summer in queensland? [Sep. 9th, 2005|12:01 pm]
This weekend is going to be fairly crap – 3 days of househunting, cleaning, packing and moving. Next time I travel to work it’ll be from my parents’ place. I’m still not sure how long I’ll be there for.

Maybe when this job ends in 3 weeks I’ll take off up the coast. Stop off in Byron then go and stay with my cousins in Brisbane for a while.

Maybe I won’t come back.

No job, no house, nothing and nobody to tie me to this city. I quite like that thought.

I just had a woman on the front counter tell me she will kill herself if her application to not be evicted is rejected. This was after an hour and a half of frenzied sobbing and hysteria.

I hope it gets approved.

2. Law and Order was so boring on Monday I painted my nails black.

i saw aforementioned nails at trivia last night. they suit the chap in question.

oh yeah, and i agree. fuck you, Barbara and all the bureaucrats who've been sitting on their hands.

now it's time for this little court officer to take herself off for a cigarette break.

Nope - no news - must be nice and warm in there - however I have demanded that he comes out to watch his first spurs game (beating Liverpool on Saturday night), and that his first experience of cricket is an England win in the ashes this weekend...... Will email you to let you know when I know something!

Sb and his ex are about to have their little boy. First friend to be a parent. So much teh exciting. Can’t wait for mini-sb’s arrival.

Work is surprisingly bearable today. Just about everything else is a bit crap. Jostles with real estate agents and landlords who don’t want to lease a place to someone who works for the Tenancy Tribunal (yes I looked them up and yes they’ve been to the Tribunal a lot in the past). At the moment, I’ll be moving home temporarily, pending a phone call from a place in Annandale this afternoon. But that’s not so bad. If I lived rent free for a couple of weeks, I could spend the extra cash on increasing my shoe and handbag collection. And my parents are worried about me and want me home for a while. Win all round.

Notes from a day at work

“Now I’ve got to call that client who’s got AIDS. He’s going to go off at me.”

“If he’s dying from AIDS, why does he even care about his hearing?”

A guy who got charged over $15.000 in a series of maybe 20 credit card transactions over 24 hours at a brothel. Claims he arrived at 7 pm, fell asleep, and woke up at 7 am having not had any sex.

Brothel owner says he has numerous prostitutes who are willing to come into the tribunal and testify to the opposite.

Woman who missed her hearing because she rang her sleazy real estate agent on the day of the hearing and he said “Don’t worry, we just put in our application to scare you. Consider your notice of hearing a love letter, we’ve withdrawn the application, let’s go for drinks tonight”. Hearing went ahead, she wasn’t there, judgement made in her absence.

*i know aids isn't funny and stuff. i guess it's just another example of the black humour that gets us through our working days here at the 'ole tribunal.

Monday’s here again. Three weeks and one day to go until I finish up here. Ohyesohyay.

Friday night mum came over with Italian for dinner and I started the cleaning and packing process.

Saturday dad came over and took me househunting, a mad dash through the inner west to see as many properties as possible, then a pub lunch at what may be my new local, the 3 weeds in Rozelle.

Sunday was job hunting and dinner with old fling, B. He works for cabinet now so we talked politics and he made me feel pretty and entertaining and intelligent again, rather than ugly, stupid and selfish. Which was nice.

Now it looks like I have found a cute little one bedroom third floor flat up the road from my place, for $100 less a week. No more studio shoebox living, no more houseguests shagging while I’m asleep (or feigning sleep), and hurray for instant debt reduction. I want to get ready to buy a property one of these days. It’s right near the light rail so I can be a yuppie and travel to work on the tram every day. I hope I get it.

And, I’ve decided to start bellyrobics which is apparently an aerobicised version of belly dancing.

I've been off work for two days, a blissful little break supported by the wonderful medical certificate writing capabilities of my doctor.

unfortunately i had to be poked and prodded in various ways also - they took five vials of blood yesterday at the pathology lab in balmain. i am not scared of needles in the slightest, but i went all funny for the first time ever and the nice man with the needle made me count to ten and when i got to six it got reeeeeeallly hard and then i went siiiiiiiiiiiix seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeen eiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine tennnnnnnnnnnn and fainted.
